68-year-old woman kidnapped at gunpoint in Delta

A 68-year-old woman, Mrs. Evelyn Agboro, was over the weekend, reportedly kidnapped by unidentified gunmen operating at Emevor, Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State.

According to reports, the armed men, who came in black T-shirts and a Vento Volkswagen car with registration No. AM 518 EFR, drove into the victim’s resident where they allegedly forced her into their car at gunpoint.

Confirming the incident, acting Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, in the State, Mr. Charles Muka, said officers have been mobilized to search for the victim and apprehend the suspects.

Muka said, “On the day the incident was reported, police detectives swung into action, trailed the suspects and on sighting the officers they abandoned their vehicle and fled into the bush.

“When the car was searched, an identity card belonging to one of the suspects at Ubogo town was recovered and he was immediately arrested,” the PPRO added. Muka, however, added that the victim was yet to be rescued.

He said there had not been a ransom demand from the criminals.
