President of the Tanzania Football Federation, Jamal Malinzi, has said that Nigeria
was lucky to earn a point on Saturday.
The Taifa Stars created several chances in the second half to win the game,
but were thwarted by debutant Carl Ikeme, who was between the sticks for Sunday
Oliseh’s men.
“Honestly, Tanzania deserved a better result,” Malinzi told
completesportsnigeria.com in an exclusive chat.
“We created more chances and had better possession.”
The draw leaves Tanzania with only one point from the first two games, after
they lost 3-0 to Egypt in the first game.
Malinzi has, however, insisted that they will not give up on qualification
for the Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.
“Please go on and beat Egypt in March 2016!” he added.
“Difficult to say if we will qualify now. Decider will be back-to-back games
in March 2016.”
Nigeria will play Egypt twice in March, with Tanzania and Chad also facing
off back-to-back.
