Hurray! Olivet Baptist High School, Olivet Heights is 70.

Olivet Baptist High School, Oyo, Nigeria (formerly Oyo Baptist Boys High School) located on a hill crest named Olivet Heights, was founded on 29th January, 1945 by Oyo and American Baptist Missions on its temporary site in the premises of the Old Baptist mission house at Oke-Isokun, Oyo (now occupied by Baptist College of Theology, Oyo). 

In attendance at the opening ceremony of the school were Late Rev. Adejumobi of Awe, Late Rev. Okediji of Ilora, late Rev. Idowu Lawoyin of Ilora, Late Rev. J. A. Taiwo of Oyo, Chief S. E. Eyitayo, Messrs E. A. Ande, S. A. Fayinka, J. O. Ogunlade and others. 

The objective of the establishment of the school was to quench the educational thirst of Oyo, its environs and Oke-Ogun. The first intake was fifty (50) students. The staff strength when the school opened was four and the pioneer headmaster was Mr. T. A. Okanla. See the 'Programme of Events' for the anniversary after the cut....

 In the early years, the school passed through ups and downs. By 1960, the profile of the school witnessed a remarkable rise and was noted for all round excellence in academics and sports, the school had facilities for O’ level and A’ level (HSC) candidates at that time.

The A’ level programme which was introduced in January, 1961 was abolished in 1981. It was the inclusion of female students on the admission list in 1963 that brought a change of name from Baptist Boys High School, Oyo to Olivet Baptist High School, Oyo. 

In 1976, the school was taken over by the Government.The school was headed by many seasoned administrators both American missionaries and Nigerians. To the glory of God, the products of the school are found all over the world, as professionals of repute.
