Armed men have shot dead a general
who was a close ally of Burundi's President Pierre Nkurunziza in the capital ,
the presidency and witnesses said.
Former head of Burundi's
intelligence services General Adolphe Nshimirimana was killed in a car in the
Kamenge district of Bujumbura on Sunday.
He was in charge of personal
security for Nkurunziza. Three of his bodyguards were also killed.
