Source; SuperSport,Nigeria’s Under 23 team head coach, Samson Siasia has invited five
more players to camp for the return leg of African Under-23 Championship
final qualifying clash against Congo.
First leg fixture clash on Sunday at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt ended 2-1 in favour of the Nigerians.
Siasia said the new legs are to add bite to the team's attack and
solidify the defence as the team intensify preparations for the
potentially explosive return leg in Pointe Noire on Sunday, August 2.
The invited players are? overseas-based Aminu Umar and Abdullahi
Shehu, Semiu Liadi of Warri Wolves, Ndifreke Effiong of Abia Warriors,
Enyimba and Flying Eagles midfielder, Kingsley Sokari.
The home-based professionals are expected to report to camp immediately while those based overseas will hit camp by the weekend.
Siasia has however sounded a note of warning to all players given
permission to travel after the team's first leg game against Congo in
Port Harcourt to report unfailingly to camp on Wednesday or be axed.
The aggregate winners of the two-legged encounter will claim a spot
in the eight-nation African Under-23 Championship in Senegal where the
topmost three teams will automatically qualify for the 2016 Olympics in
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Nigeria’s Under-23 team did not qualify for the men’s football event of the global sports fiesta in 2012 London Olympics.
