According to Sahara reporter, The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) in Abuja has
summoned Speaker Jumoke Akindele and Clerk Bode Adeyelu of the Ondo State House
of Assembly for questioning over the purported act of conspiracy in forging a
document of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
A competent source in Akure who spoke to
SaharaReporters on Sunday evening said the Criminal Investigative
Department is on the trail of both the Speaker and the Clerk for allegedly
forging the INEC Certificate of Return for two candidates of the State
Assembly, Abayomi Akinrutan and Coker Malachi. Both Mr. Akinrutan and Mr.
Malachi are members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and in recent weeks
have been regular visitors to the police force headquarters in Abuja during the
investigation.
The source disclosed that the summons was part of
the ongoing investigation of the unlawful swearing-in of the two suspected
contestants into the State parliamentary house. According to the source, the
Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) at the INEC Ondo State headquarters,
Segun Agbaje, was also questioned, along with the two officials who oversaw the
elections under question in Ilaje Constituency I and II. Both overseeing
officials, called Returning Officers, had declared false results in favor of
Mr. Malachi and Mr. Akinrutan whil under duress.
A high-ranking police source confirmed to
SaharaReporters that the security agencies have put the Assembly under close
watch. "Yes, they are trailing the Speaker and the clerk,” the source
