50% salary cut causes uproar amongst Imo State Workers.

Imo state government through the office of the head of service, Mr Callistus
Ekenze has issued a new salary table that is causing uproar among the
workers in the state.
The announcement that 50 per cent will be removed from workers’ salaries is
stirring a labour war.

Vanguard reports that the new salary table reversed salaries and allowances
of judicial staff, health workers and agricultural field staff attached to
ministries. Salaries and allowances of ministries like justice, agriculture and
health that were already scheduled were returned to the directors of accounts
for fresh computations to reflect the new salary table.
It was reported that Governor Rochas Okorocha instructed the director of
accounts to complete the computation today and submit the salary schedule
for payment.
The workers lamented that their hazard, outfit, legislative and other incentives
that they had enjoyed in the past had been removed. They were said to have
confronted Chief Acho Ihim, the speaker but they were advised to handle the
issue amicably
