Johanna Colon (middle) |
This
sassy 6-year-old from Raleigh, North Carolina, channelled singer and musician
Aretha Franklin during her dance recital performance of
"Respect." Now, a video of Johanna Colon's recital has had
more than 25 million Facebook views since her mom shared it
Sunday.
"She
is trending! My phone has been going nuts! I cannot believe any of this!" her
mom, Elissa M. Colon wrote on Facebook.
Colon mom
said on the NBC ”Today Show” that her daughter didn't even know who Aretha
Franklin was, even if her performance has made the Internet
think otherwise.
Johanna
took to the stage with two other tiny dancers. At centre stage, Johanna shook
her hips and waved her finger with an attitude only the Queen of Soul herself
could rock.
She
helped guide the other two dancers through the routine, who seemed to be a bit
more nervous than Johanna. By the end of the song, the sold-out crowd of
more than 400 people were up on their feet cheering Johanna on, Colon said on
the "Today Show."
Johanna
hopes to be famous one day, her mom says, but doesn't understand that she has
already gone viral.
"We
told Johanna about it, and she's excited, but she really doesn't totally
understand," Colon said on the "Today Show." "She was
more excited that she had her last day of school and that she got ice cream for
having a great report card."
To help
her sassy daughter achieve her dream of fame, Colon is asking Facebook users to
share her video.
"If
you want her on 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show' you need to share, share,
share!" she wrote.
Enjoy the
video.
