National Assembly in the Last 16 years.
I saw this Online and wanted to share and hear our thoughts.....
Senate president David Mark was in the senate in 1999 when a copy of the budget looked like this:
The above photos are just two pages from that year’s budget showing in detail how much lawmakers and their principal officers as well as aides are expected to spend in a year on travelling. It even showed the number of trips they are entitled to, the amount for estacode, amongst other things.
That is the kind of openness which Nigerians have been expecting in the national assembly in recent times but which has proved elusive and which propelled the #OpenNASS campaign.
Senate president David Mark vigorously and dishonestly argued this week that the National Assembly budget is transparent and open, but under his leadership in the last eight years, issues of transparency have gone from bad to worse…

Compare this David Mark’s budget where a lump sum was just placed in all the columns with no break down whatsoever and the first two above and you will see that the National Assembly has truly regressed from the one in 1999.
