Manchester United moved to the top of the Premier
League table thanks to goals from Memphis Depay, Wayne Rooney and Juan Mata as
they beat Sunderland 3-0 at Old Trafford.
Louis van Gaal’s side capitalised on Manchester City’s defeat at Tottenham earlier in the day to move a point about their city rivals.
Memphis opened the scoring deep into first-half stoppage time, tapping home Juan Mata’s pass after a superb cross-field pass by Daley Blind.
Rooney then added a second shortly after the break, the ball hitting his knee and flying past Costel Pantilimon after some good work from Anthony Martial before Mata grabbed a third in the 90th minute.
