Grandmother, driver arrested with 7-year-old girl’s corpse in Osun
A driver, simply identified as Ade and an unidentified aged woman, have been arrested by the police after allegedly dumping the corpse of a seven-year-old girl, Ajayi Iyadun, at the back of an uncompleted building in Esa Oke in Osun State.
Punch reports that the deceased’s mother, Funke, had divorced the girl’s father and married an Islamic cleric in Ilesa. Iyadun until her death reportedly lived with her mother and her new husband. She was said to have fallen ill, but eventually died despite efforts to save her life.
According to reports, Funke allegedly sent her aged mother, the driver, one Kazim and her husband to dump the girl’s body at the back of her former husband’s house in Esa Oke when some residents saw them and raised the alarm while two of them (the driver and deceased’s grandmother), were caught.
A resident who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the incident happened over the weekend and that they saw the people and challenged them, to know their mission.
“We discovered that they came to dump the corpse of a seven-year-old girl at the back of her father’s house.
“After checking the corpse thoroughly,” he said, “We discovered that her private part had been removed, the two buttocks, the knees and ankles were also mutilated.
“We raised the alarm and two of them (Kazim and the deceased’s step father) ran away but the grandmother and the driver were apprehended and handed over to the police,” the anonymous resident added.
