Blessing Okagbare vows to bounce back in 200m

Nigeria’s sprint queen, Blessing Okagbare, has apologised to Nigerians for her performance in the 100m final, at the IAAF World Championships in Beijing.

Okagbare, who is the reigning African 100m queen and third fastest woman in the world, finished last in a time of 11.02 seconds.

She wrote on her Facebook wall: “You work hard, train hard, put your best foot forward and go out there to proudly represent your country.

“Sometimes it all comes together for you, and on other days like today (Monday August 24, 2015), it doesn’t.”

She blamed her slow start and promised her fans that she will make up for the poor show in the 200m, where she won bronze two years ago in Moscow, Russia.

“I feel sad that I let you down,” added.

“I will regroup and get ready for the 200m which starts on Wednesday. I thank you all for standing by me.”
