Ban Ki-moon to pay two-day visit to Nigeria




The United Nations, UN, Secretary-General, Mr Ban Ki-moon, will be coming to Nigeria from August 23 to 24 in a visit that will see him meet with President Muhammadu Buhari and state governors.

The UN chief, will, in the course of his visit scheduled to focus on Pathways to a new Nigeria-Role of Sub-National Governments, also lay wreath to commemorate the 4th Anniversary of the terror attack on the United Nation’s House, in Abuja and embark on a field visit to Kuje Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.

He will also in the course of the two-day visit, hold dialogue and lunch with Nigerian Business actors under the theme ‘The role of Nigerian Business and Economy in Implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and addressing Climate Change’.

Mr. Ki-Moon will also hold talks aimed at deepening Nigeria’s democracy with government officials on the theme: Democracy, Sustainable Development and Countering Violent Extremism.

At the end of his meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari, there will be a joint press conference, to be followed by a dinner hosted by President Buhari in honour of the UN Secretary-General.
