Lawmakers in the Lower Chamber have passed the first motion of the 8th
House of Representatives condemning the killing of corps members in different
parts of Nigeria.

Moving the motion under matters of urgent national importance, Honourable
Kingsely Chinda, said “the nation must take steps to protect these young
Nigerians who are serving their country”.
The PDP Rivers State representative was brought to a halt by a point of order
by an APC Lagos State representative, Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila.
Gbajabiamila’s point of order was sustained and the motion was put to a vote.
The motion was, however, passed with some amendments.
The House urged the police to investigate the matter and ensure those
responsible were brought to justice.
Proceedings adjourned to June 23, while the Speaker, Yakubu Dogara, brought
the first day of legislation to a close.
It is expected that by June 23, the remaining principal officers of the House
would have been announced.
