CHRISTIANS OF TODAY (PREMIER EPISODE)

Hello readers, this is the first edition of the Christians of Today column.

The Christian column helps the modern day Christian Youth and Adults basically to answer life’s question with the help of the Holy Spirit. But I’m still a youth so I will be directing it more to the youths.
It is not easy living in the world but not living like the world and many of us find ourselves in swampy mire of life. Anyone who acts like it is easy is only pretending and being hypocritical. I hope I can make it here every Sunday DV.
So please for pray me lol… let’s get down to business.
The other day I needed to study the Bible and then I got confused because I’ve been doing it the hickety-pickety way (please don’t be like me).

“What do I read” flipping the pages of the Bible.
“Read psalm 40” the HOLY SPIRIT suggested
“Ugh! that psalm doesn’t even sound familiar” I shrugged
“Okay oo, read psalm 29 since 40 doesn’t sound familiar” (who says the Holy Spirit doesn’t play?)
“You’re messing with me right?  We both giggled because I heard another giggle aside mine.
That was how our 2 minute conversation went down and Yes the Holy Spirit actually laughs when you laugh for the right reasons.
I flipped to psalm 29 but that psalm wasn’t for me at that moment so I went to psalm 40 and
BAM!!! Jesus was there waiting for me.
See what psalm 40:1-2says,
“I waited patiently for the LORD
And he inclined to me and heard my cry.
He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, miry clay.
And HE set my feet upon a solid Rock
Making my footsteps firm”

I quickly remembered one of my favorite songs, “Jesus lover of my soul” by HILLSONG UNITED and yes they matched. So the Holy Spirit started to explain those first two verses to me.
1.       There is patience and a cry
2.       There is a miry clay
3.       There is Hope which is the solid rock now through Christ.
First, mire is deep mud, even though there is repetition the writer wanted to emphasize how deep the mud is.  Just like a quick sand but wet.  In this Biblical context, we got ourselves into the mire due to sins we commit.
Sometimes as modern Christians we have unknown sins (of which I will talk about later) because the world seems cool with it. But let me paraphrase John 15:19; talking about us (Christians) being called out of the world. So therefore we can’t be like them because they hate us.
The cry means that the mire is not comfortable therefore the person was sinking and needed to get out or will be dead in no time. The cry means the prayer and steadfastness and repentance. The Bible says in James 1:15. “Our desires make us sin and when sin is done with us, it leaves us dead. So as not to die, we cry unto the Lord for forgiveness.”
What’s “waiting patiently”? That is Faith. Believing that your tears will be heard and you won’t be allowed to sink in the miry clay of your sins. Matt 21:22, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it.
And finally, Our Hope, Our Way, Our Christ.  We know Him already has Christians but we need to keep with Him on the Solid rock or else will be back in our miry clay crying (until we lose our voices) lol. He’s the way out of the miry clay John 14:6 … the way the truth and the life…
What are these miry clays that we find ourselves sinking in? Have we cried? Do we have faith and are we ready to stay on the solid rock?
Till next time. Reflect!
SHALOM! SHALOM!
CHANNA.
