Adamawa deputy gov, Senator at inauguration attacked by Youth.
The immediate past Deputy Governor of Adamawa State, Mr. Sa’ad Tahir, was attacked at the inauguration of Senator Bindowo Jibrilla as the new governor of the state.
Before the attack on Tukur, Tahir was intermittently booed by the crowd at the inauguration venue while he was delivering Ngilari’s speech.
He was pelted with sachet water and shoes, and had to be immediately whisked off the podium by security operatives.
The angry crowd asked for Nggilari, who they threatened to stone as well.
It took the intervention of APC chieftains to calm down the crowd as security operatives, attached to the outgone deputy governor, had to whisk him away.
Tahir had earlier in his speech said the outgone administration was able to achieve a lot in the areas of fighting insurgency, education and youth empowerment with the call on the incoming government to improve.
In his inaugural speech, the new governor assured the people that he would run an open-door policy.
He lamented that Adamawa was among the most backward states, saying he was optimistic that with prayer and commitment, there would be light at the end of the tunnel.
“With God on our side, we shall overcome the problems bedeviling our state. I am therefore calling on all to join hands in moving the state to greater heights,” he said.
